The new-look BBC
Article Abstract:
The British Broadcasting Corp (BBC) has launched a 24-hours news services and relocated its news journalists. The BBC is restructuring on the lines of major US media companies, and aims to maximise exploitation of core content. This means distributing it in a number of ways. The BBC has launched a free internet service called BBC Online, and is launching five free channels as well as a fifth commercial channel. There is a logic to using the BBC's TV library, but conflicts can emerge with the BBC's public service role.
