The new missionaries
Article Abstract:
The issue of ecological imperialism is evident in views to be expounded at the United Nations meeting on greenhouse-gas emissions. Environmental protection has become a new form of religion, and its proponents have little consideration for the world's poorer people. The US is seeking a treaty on the restriction of greenhouse-gas emissions which would require some participation by developing countries. Developing countries believe that this would restrict their ability to grow and impose hardship on their people. They want to be exempt from initial steps on climate control.
