The riddle of Jack Straw
Article Abstract:
UK Home Secretary Jack Straw has handled a number of very sensitive issues very effectively. In sharp contrast with some of his cabinet colleagues, he has managed to avoid too much negative publicity, even though he has sometimes shown himself to be ill-informed. Even the revelation that his son had been involved in selling drugs did not damage his reputation. He has now become one of the most influential cabinet ministers, and some observers believe that he could even become Prime Minister eventually.
