The role of the perspectivist
Article Abstract:
Perspectivists make artists impressions of architectural designs. Such illustrations are often used in presentations and publicity material and are worth the investment of time and effort. With modern technology, artwork can be reproduced economically in small, high quality runs. When briefing a perspectivist, it is important to consider how the illustration will be used and its audience. Most clients and planners wish to see realistic, detailed images. The Society of Architectural and Industrial Illustrators has a standard contract and its members often work in the architect's office.

A model briefing package
Article Abstract:
Architectural models can be highly effective in communicating the designer's ideas but they should be carefully specified and professionally made. Model makers should be told as early as possible the purpose of the model and its intended audience. Models can be for several purposes; display, explanation, prototyping or for filming. The perspective of the viewer, eye-level, above and so on is important. Detail of the model, its background and base board must all be specified using clear terminology. Finally, the scale, colouring and housing of the model should be set out.

Celebrating with vigour and verve
Article Abstract:
The Wilford Stirling Wilford exhibition in London, UK, shows the great difference between the architectural projects carried out under the former James Stirling, Michael Wilford and Associates, and those carried out by the current practice of Michael Wilford and Partners. The more recent buildings tend to be on a larger scale, and thus seem to offer more freedom and diversity in the public spaces in which they are found. More recent projects also seem to contain fewer quirks than those of the earlier practice.
