Article Abstract:
The Guanacaste-Nicoya region in Costa Rica produced distinct ancient stonework which were symbols of power. The mace head, metate and hand axe-shaped jade pendants were particularly noteworthy for they represented both functional and ceremonial uses. This Pre-Columbian art reflects the ancient people's great artistry.
