Tony Marchington is the Chief Executive Officer of Oxford Molecular Group (OMG), which Marchington claims is a leader in the bioinformatics field. Bioinformatics is a combination of information technology and biotechnology. Marchington took his degree in chemistry at Oxford, after which he studied for a PhD researching in what was to be known as bioinformatics. After some time spent organising steam rallies, Marchington returned to Oxford to start OMG, which has since been floated on the stock exchange and become a market leader.

Many firms are tempted to try IT outsourcing, for cost saving reasons, to keep up with technology and to keep business competitive. The majority of outsourcing companies are seeking long term business relationships, but there are concerns about being locked into one company without being able to move away. The solution is for users to maintain a small core of managers to handle the contract.
