Article Abstract:
The rescue of an Intelsat satellite in space by US astronauts may have been good theatre, but it was hardly worth risking the astronauts lives for. The cost of the rescue mission was conservatively estimated at $350 million. It would have cost $100 million less just to replace the satellite.

Truly messed up: NASA's troubles
Article Abstract:
NASA director Richard Truly was forced to resign on Feb 10, 1992. Truly's two-year tenure as the space agency's head was marked by improvements in management, but conflict's with the more politically-aware National Space Council necessitated Truly's departure.
