AssiDomaen Sepap (ADS) (Steti, Czech Republic), pulp and paper firm, invested a total of 2 bil Kc in 1995-1998. The investments were used mainly for the environmental production of bleached chemical pulp and the improvement of the quality of the firm's bag paper production. ADS produces pulp free of chlorine and compounds. ADS owns a paper production machine, which produces more than 110,000 t of bag paper and is one of the largest bag paper production machines in the world. ADS's two Yankee machines produce together 22,000 t of non-bleached and bleached sulphate paper per year. The firm's machine, which produces covering cardboard for corrugated paperboard, has a capacity of 65,000 t per year. The company's pulp drying machine produces 100,000 t of bleached dried pulp per year, which is used for the production of cardboard for Tetra Pak cartons. ADS is a member of of the group AssiDomaen (Sweden) and is owned by the production and trade division Kraft Product, which is the prominent global manufacturer of bag and sulphate paper.

Siemens Telekomunikace and SPT Telecom
Article Abstract:
Siemens Telekomunikace (ST) (Prague, Czech Republic), telecommunication equipment manufacturer, will go on modernising Czech telecommunications in 1999 and 2000. The firm will co-operate with the telecomunication firm SPT Telecom (Prague, Czech Republic) in the project. ST has arranged a basic contract with SPT Telecom on the supplies of equipment for 1999 and 2000. The worth of the first supply, which will be realised within the contract's part for 1999, is 49 mil DEM. ST, which has been involved in the digitisation of public telecommunication networks in the Czech Republic and Slovakia since 1992, saw a turnover of 103 mil DEM in 1998. ST plans to invest a total of 33 mil DEM in the Czech Republic in 1999-2000. In 1991-1998 the company invested a total of 33 mil DEM in staff preparation, technical equipment, testing exchanges and software. In the Czech Republic, ST is one of the strongest members of Siemens (Germany).

Who will be the third operator of a GSM network?
Article Abstract:
Czech Republic: The Ministry of Transport and Communications will choose the third mobile telephone operator in a tender by the end of September 1999. Eight consortiums will participate in the tender. According to the tender's conditions, the third network GSM 1800 MHz should be commissioned in the middle of 2000. The network should cover 60% of the population by the end of 2000. Investments in the network GSM 1800 MHz should be about 20 bil Kc in 1999-2002. The entrance of the third operator should cause a decrease in prices for services in the field of mobile telephones. The hitherto mobile telephone operators in the Czech Republic are Eurotel (Czech Republic) and Radiomobil (Czech Republic).
