Article Abstract:
A corruption investigation is being carried out in the Caribbean by British lawyer, Sir Louis Blom Cooper. He has been invited by the St Kitts and Nevis prime minister, Denzil Douglas, to carry out the investigation, due to his experience in the field. There have been a number of corruption investigations in the Caribbean, and proposals have been made to tackle the problem. There have been difficulties in bringing about real change, despite changes in the rules.

A majority of islands in the Caribbean Sea are still colonies of foreign countries, most notably France, Britain, the Netherlands and the US. How these colonies are governed and the prospects that their political status may change are examined.
