They do not speak and are profitable
Article Abstract:
Czech Republic: Engineering firms associated in the Association of Engineering Equipment Manufacturers and Suppliers expect a turnover of about 13 bil Kc in 2000. The volume of their production and exports should increase by about 10% in 2000 compared to 1999. The association includes 45 Czech and Slovak firms. The volume of the production and exports of Czech machine tool and forming machine manufacturers has been increasing by 12-44% per year since 1994 excluding 1999, when domestic production decreased by 5% due to recession in Europe and the US. The growth was reflected in a 23-28% increase per year. Engineering firms from the association export 90% of their production. About 10% of their production are intended for the domestic market. The firms export mainly to EU countries, the US and Canada. They supplied goods worth 3.224 bil Kc to Germany, goods worth 812 mil Kc to Italy, goods worth 537 mil Kc to the US and goods worth 468 mil Kc to Austria in 1999. Czech firms supplied machine tools worth 423 mil Kc to the automotive company Belaz (Belarus) in 1999. Seven firms will supply machines worth 120 mil USD, about 120 mil USD, to Belaz during 2000-2007. The Czech Republic took the 14th position on the machine tool and forming machine market in the world and the seventh position in Europe in 1999. A decisive part of the total production and exports is represented by highly sophisticated machine tools intended for the automotive industry, IT equipment manufacturers and the consumer industry.
