Thomson unit puts digital TV in picture
Article Abstract:
Thomson Multimedia has announced full-year profits for 1998. To accomplish this, the company received $1.7 billion dollars from the French government and closed nine major plants. The profits in 1998 were $17 million after a loss of $476 million in 1997. Digital-broadcast satellite technology has kept the company afloat and should lead to greater profits in 1999.
