SAP shifts board's duties to boost Internet strategy

SAP AG has carried out a reshuffling of its executive board member responsibilities in order to accelerate the development of new Internet products. SAP has been struggling to expand into this rapidly-expanding market. Chairman Henning Kagermann will assume responsibility for worldwide sales. In the past, the responsibility for the different regions was assigned to board members. In addition, SAP's co-chairman Hasso Plattner will take sole responsibility for the company's Internet strategy, called mySAP.com.

Baan posts quarterly loss as software sales tumble
Article Abstract:
Baan NV reported a net loss of $9.2 million (8.7 million euros) for the second-quarter of 1999. The net loss roughly matched what analysts had predicted. Baan also saw business software sales drop sharply. The Dutch-based firm is currently implementing a difficult restructuring. Baan's quarterly loss represents the fourth consecutive quarter in which it has posted a loss. During the same period in 1998, Baan posted $17.1 million in profits.
