Time for another round
Article Abstract:
There has been an increase in world trade, but there are also obstacles as the Japanese and other Asian economies shrink, and a US recession becomes a possibility. Governments of the 1930s used protectionism and there is concern that the mistake could be repeated. Free trade becomes more important in difficult times. National regulations, quotas and tariffs can hamper free trade. Political problems should be tackled to prepare for a new round of trade talks.
