Top executive shakeup at the Post
Article Abstract:
Toronto, Ontario-based 'National Post' will not implement any significant change in routine after an executive shuffle and the appointment of Conrad Black as its new publisher. New senior vice-president and general manager David Swail declared that the company does not anticipate any major change in direction from a marketing standpoint at the daily, which is already half-owned by CanWest Global Communications. Swail also dismissed industry concerns that CanWest will hike its ad rates substantially to pay for the Hollinger acquisition.

Transit newspaper study completed
Article Abstract:
The Interpublic Group of Companies has paid an enormous amount of money for a study to examine the depth of the cut that free transit tabloids might be carving out of Toronto, Ontario's paid daily readership. The group is interested in knowing the readership of the trnasit papers and particularly the impact or the possible impact of the transit papers on the four paid dailies. The study has also turned up some revealing information that the Interpublic companies intend to discuss with their clients.
