Bombardic
Article Abstract:
The annual Festival de Cornouailles in Quimper, France, is designed to celebrate Breton culture. It brings together dancers, bands and solo performers, and ends in a large parade through the town. There is an enthusiastic, informal atmosphere, and much emphasis is placed on performing on the bombarde, a small, double-reeded instrument, and the biniou, a small, high-pitched Breton bagpipe. The festival reflects the fact that young people in Brittany are encouraged to retain the region's traditional music.
