The cosmetics and toiletries products industry in Hungary is faced with growing market competition in the country. The industry is expected to likely focus on the lower end of the cosmetics and toiletries market and to provide cheaper and more affordable quality products to customers. Most consumers in the country choose to purchase cosmetics and toiletries products that are cheap. Also, only a number of major companies such as the Caola, Helia D, Herbaria, Anaconda and Fabulon are producing products under the segment.

The bath and shower sector of the cosmetics and toiletries market in Hungary is dominated by the bar soaps subsector with sales of $31.6 million in 1997, followed by liquid soaps at $4.8 million. Sales growth, however, was fastest in the liquid soaps category at 118.2% in from 1993 to 1997, followed by shower gel subsector with growth of 100% to $4.4 million in 1997 from $2.2 million in 1993. Meanwhile, sales of talcum power has declined by 5.9% from $1.7 million in 1993 to $1.6 million in 1993.
