Saturn's fully loaded right-hand drive sedan or wagon is initially priced at 1.63 million yen, close to prices offered by Japanese rivals. The new product's advertising drive is focused on emphasizing the company's long-term commitment to Japan.

Auto makers' results differ: Honda, Toyota see records; Nissan cuts forecast

Earnings and earnings estimate in Japan's auto industry vary as Honda Motor Co and Toyota Motor Corp posted record profits for the year ended Mar 31, 1998, while Nissan Motor Co reduced its earnings forecast to a consolidated net loss of 14 bil yen. Nissan earlier had predicted 16 bil yen in net profit. Toyota's record profit was credited mainly to robust sales abroad and the declining yen.
