Transmission Facility Planning in Telecommunications Networks: A Heuristic Approach
Article Abstract:
A mixed integer programming (MIP) model intended to limit the current value of facility installation costs is developed. It speaks to fulfilling linkwise circuit requirements in each epoch of a fixed planning horizon. It handles alternate transmission systems having supply limitations, general circuit requirements and prior established alternate routes of circuit assignment. An heuristic method is furnished for finding approximate optional solutions for empirical cases of unlimited transmission supplies having only one alternate assignment route. Numerical findings for middle sized networks over three period planning horizons are given. Graphs of network spanning trees are included, as are tables of circuit and optional solution data.

Stochastic goal programming: a mean-variance approach
Article Abstract:
Research developing a model of stochastic goal programming is presented. Particular attention is given to ways in which expected utility equations correspond to programming goals. The model's aim is to build a structure of mean-variance minimization.

Combining DEA and stochastic frontier models: an empirical Bayes approach
Article Abstract:
Creation of an empirical Bayes procedure to integrate stochastic frontier models and data envelopment analysis models is examined. This new approach is used to measure efficiency in U.S. airlines.
