California-based Petersen Cos., magazine publisher, will be bought by Emap PLC for $1.2 billion cash plus debt. Petersen's 'Teen,' 'Motor Trend,' 'Hot Rod,' 'Guns & Ammo,' and 'Motorcyclist' titles will be added to Emap's 'Auto Plus,' 'Bliss,' 'Smash Hits,' 'FHM,' and 'Tele Star.' After the merger is completed early next year, the firm will have more than $1.5 billion in revenue and 6,000 employees.
