Traveller's tales
Article Abstract:
Chinese airspace has some unique characteristics that separates it from the airspaces of other countries. Air traffic controllers in China give altitudes in meters, in contrast to the feet-calibrated altimeters on US and European aircraft. This means that pilots have to translate the feet their instruments register into meters when conversing with Chinese air controllers. Chinese airspace is also bilingual, meaning that controllers speak English to foreign pilots and Chinese to Chinese pilots. Comprehension is another irritating characteristic of Chinese airspace.

Buried treasure
Article Abstract:
Chinese archaeological treasures have been continuously plundered by professional grave diggers who then smuggle the precious antiquities to collectors across Asia. The lack of funds is hindering efforts of the Chinese government to minimize or stop the illegal traffic of the valuable artifacts. Its inability to control the thievery of its national patrimony have forced Chinese officials to consider legalizing the trade and thereby allowing the government to profit from it also.

Bring back my Buddhas to me
Article Abstract:
The uncontrolled flight of archaeological treasures from the cave temples along northwestern China's Silk Road initiated by French,British, Japanese, Russian and American explorers has left Chinese officials hesitant to sell the remaining national relics for profit. These late 19th century and early 20th century explorers, like Aurel Stein and Paul Pelliot, have been regarded as great scholars in the West but the Chinese have expressedtheir derision for them.
