Tree-lined boulevard of Stranraer
Article Abstract:
Dumfries and Galloway area architect Peter Nelson created a forest-like design for the covered corridor which extends the length of Stranraer Academy school, Scotland. The steel and glass construction forms the spine of what will be a complete rebuilding of the school, with demolitions and rebuilding continuing until the end of the century. The corridor resembles a tree-lined boulevard with steel trees extending upwards and branching out beneath a glass vault. The trees lean inwards at an angle of eight degrees, and towards or away from each other, also at an eight-degree angle.

A place of discovery
Article Abstract:
The library at the Royal College of Art in London, England, was overcrowded and in need of an extension. Wright and Wright were chosen because their design was most sympathetic to available space. Work was carried out in three areas, the main library, the area for three special collections and ancillary sector. To be less obtrusive, the area behind the bookcases was used for utility areas, including lift and staircase.
