Tridel Corp of Toronto, Ontario, is offering a residential unit worth C$160,000 as the main prize in its online promotion. From Nov 6, 1999, to Jan 29, 2000, the condominium developer is marketing its new 250-suite condo project near the SkyDome on a temporary web site at www.myfreetridelhome.com. The contest also offers other prizes such as mutual funds, dishwashers, high-speed Internet service and a digital phone. The web site, backed by traditional ad channels to draw traffic, registered about 20,000 log-ins within 30 days of the promotion's launch.

Timex teams up with Teletoon

Timex Canada of Toronto, Ontario, offered 150 Mystery Answer Watches in a joint promotion with specialty channel Teletoon that ran until Nov 1999. The watches were offered to visitors to Teletoon's website at www.teletoon.com, which features substantial children-oriented graphic content and provides information about Teletoon's programming. The website, which also offers access to a virtual demonstration of the Mystery Answer Watch, registered 250,000 log-ins from users, up 47% from Oct 1999.

CCM scores with new campaign

Hockey Co of Westmount, Quebec, has began a branding campaign for its CCM line of hockey apparel during the National Hockey League All-Star Game. The campaign, which uses the tag line ' When you're born to play,' is expected to run until mid-Apr 2000. The advertisements, which feature four 15-second TV spots, are the first series of commercials to be released by Montreal, Quebec-based Marketel/McCann-Erickson since winning Hockey Co's CCM account in Sep 1999.
