In China's slow lane
Article Abstract:
Nissan Motor Company Ltd's modest expansion plans in China is a reflection of the continuing reluctance of Japan's automobile manufacturers to make large investments in that country. Problems encountered by the company in its past ventures in China is partly responsible for its cautious plans. Another reason is the high local content of the cars to be manufactured in China. Some European and US car manufacturers have already set up manufacturing plants in China.
