UK: COMPANIES FAIL TO PROTECT INCOME
Article Abstract:
Seventy percent of UK companies fail to protect their income, even though they appreciate the benefits, according to a survey of 200 firms by research consultants H2B for Norwich Union Healthcare. Development of the market is hindered by lack of understanding and awareness, claims NU. Over 50% of employers have also failed to seek advice on employee benefits provision, with many perceiving it as more costly than it actually is. Income protection offers employers benefits such as freeing them from the burden of sick pay. NU has replaced its Company Safeguard policy with the new Group Income Protection policy, with the new product more competitive in the larger company sector.

UK: Early cancer detection could boost premiums
Article Abstract:
Early detection of prostate cancer as a result of new testing technology could lead to a rise in critical illness premiums of up to 40%, according to the Association of British Insurers (ABI). A critical illness working group set up by the ABI has suggested controlling premiums by splitting policyholders into two groups: those who wish to be covered only for diagnosed cases of prostate cancer past the earliest stages and those who wish to be covered for this cancer at all stages of development.
