U.K. prepares for special loan auctions
Article Abstract:
The Bank of England has announced that it will conduct auctions for three-month loans using broader collateral terms on October 2, 10, and 17, 2007. It will accept European and British residential mortgage-backed securities with specific ratings, and European, British, and US asset-backed securities with specific ratings and backed by credit cards. The auctions are aimed at easing longer-term money market pressures.

Islamic bonds are booming
Article Abstract:
The Middle East economic boom has introduced Islamic bonds called 'sukuk' that are regular bonds but comply with the regulations of Shariah law. Global issuance of sukuk was $6.7 billion last year, up four times more from 2003 and the issuance is expected to rise again this year.
