U.K.'s Virgin Mobile, NTL to merge

NTL Inc. of the United Kingdom is to merge with Virgin Mobile Holdings PLC also of the United Kingdom for 962.4 million Pounds ($1.67 billion). The telecommunications giant created will be the first quadruple service, offering cellphone service, fixed line telephone, high speed internet and cable television. The new company will use the Virgin brand.
