New 'silver bullet' explored for French Army
Article Abstract:
Giat Industries SA is in the process of developing a new armor-piercing, fin-stabilized, discarding sabot (APFSDS) round. The APFSDS has already finished test-firing demonstrations from the 52-caliber 120mm smoothbore gun of the French Army's Leclerc tank. Giat's design, known as Projectile Cinetique a Penetration Accrue (PROCIPAC), is expected to begin production but only in relatively small quantities.

New infrared countermeasure grenade for Swiss Army
Article Abstract:
SM Swiss Ammunition Enterprise and Buck Neue Technologien have received a $23.9 million contract from the Swiss Army. The contract requires the two companies to deliver around 165,000 Maske 76 EL RP/C grenades by mid 2001, to be used for Leopard 2 tanks and Piranha wheeled armored vehicles. SM Swiss Ammunition Enterprise and Buck Neue Technologien were given the contract because their smoke grenade complements the standard grenade adopted by the German Army in mid 1999.
