US: Condat (industrial lubricants) reviewed

French industrial lubricant manufacturer, Condat makes 40% of its turnover outside of France, in around 40 countries including the US where the company installed a production plant one year ago following the acquisition of a local company in this country. The company, which has 4,000 customers world-wide, will take advantage of this huge market though fragmented, to develop its core business and also Cecil, the 100% subsidiary (EUR 17.53mn turnover) dedicated to wood treatment, decoration and preservation products. Condat turned over some EUR 74.7mn in 2000 with a staff of 410.

CYPRUS: TOTALFINAELF UNVEILS PLANS

TotalFinaElf has plans in Cyprus, according to Jamyl Saheb-Ettaba, the assistant manager in charge of Total Outre-Mer's operations in the Mediterranean zone. The French oil giant is starting a kerosene supply activity for aircraft based in the airports of Lanarca and Paphos, in March 2001. The activity will be operated via a Nicosia-based company. The French group targets a 20% share in this market (worth a yearly 260,000 tons of kerosene) in four years. Boosted by tourism, this market is experiencing a strong development according to Saheb-Ettaba.

SENEGAL: INVESTMENT PLANS AT SAINT-LOUIS AIRPORT
Article Abstract:
Investment projects at the international airport of Saint-Louis (Senegal) include a longer runway (2,500 metres compared to 1,900m today) in order to handle A310-type aircraft, the construction of a new terminal, and a large car park. The investment, included in the state's structural transport programme (PST2) is worth FFr 30mn in total, and the World Bank is said to have committed itself to finance the feasibility study. The airport handled 12,480 passengers in the past two years including 7,000 arrivals and 5,480 departures.
