Article Abstract:
Cambridge NeuroScience Inc. and Boehringer Ingelheim GmbH terminated their venture to develop Cerestat, a drug for stroke and traumatic brain injury. Cambridge, which believes that Cerestat is effective, inked its collaboration with Boehringer in 1995 amid optimism that the drug would help prevent the death of brain cells by blocking calcium intake, which be toxic. The deal required Boehringer to finance 75% of the drug development project in exchange for the right to market Cerestat in Europe and co-market in the US.
