US Navy seeks small anti-jam GPS antenna
Article Abstract:
The US Navy Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command is planning to award up to three contracts, valued at US$1.3 million, for prototypes of a Small Controlled Reception Pattern Antenna. The equipment is intended to provide an acceptable level of performance in the presence of multiple jammers. It should accommodate at least six operational elements within a footprint measuring 17.8x17.8cm. It should also expand the bandwidth from 20 MHz to 24MHz for the new Global Positioning System M-code signal.

US seeks joint-service NBC system
Article Abstract:
The US Army Soldier Systems Center has issued a draft document for the development of a Joint Transportable Collective Protection System (JTCOPS) to be used in all the US armed services. JTCOPS is lightweight and modular nuclear, biological and chemical system that includes a shelter filtration, environmental control and power generation. Its prototypes are expected in 2001, with full operational capability expected to be achieved in 2006.

US Navy focuses efforts on key advanced technologies
Article Abstract:
The US Navy aims to focus its science and technology budget on 12 major future naval capabilities (FNCs) with the launching of a co-ordinated program in 2000. The service's science and technology corporate board will establish the FNC priorities and review the progress of each FNC project annually. Each FNC will also have its own integrated project team and will culminate in well-defined demonstrations.
