US firms target Nordic technology companies
Article Abstract:
Acquisitions of Scandinavian technology firms by US companies rose sharply in 1996, driven by increasing interest in telecommunications and information technology (IT) markets. US companies are attracted to Nordic technology businesses because their products are competitively priced. Other factors contributing to the trend include Sweden's and Finland's membership of the European Union, the deregulated telecommunications market and improved economic prospects in the region.
