US-sub-Saharan Africa trade bill ok'd
Article Abstract:
US trade with sub-Saharan African countries is expected to be boosted with the approval of the Trade and Development Act of 2000. The bill provides duty and quota-free treatment to some textile and apparel goods from qualified sub-Saharan countries. The goods will given preference if they contain American-made fabric and yarn. Forty-eight countries in the region are qualified to take advantage of the preferential treatment provided for in the Act.

EU-Swiss trade opening up
Article Abstract:
Swiss voters have approved in a referendum a package of seven bilateral agreements that will liberalize Swiss trade with the EU. One of the agreements will lower weight restrictions on trucks that could significantly lessen transport costs in north-south routes in Europe. Effective 2005, the heaviest trucks in Europe will allowed through Switzerland.
