Ukraine signs Chernobyl contract
Article Abstract:
A French-headed consortium has signed a contract with Ukrainian officials to construct a replacement shelter for the nation's Chernobyl reactor, where the worst nuclear accident in history occurred in 1986. The project will be funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The $505 mil contract involves erecting a metal structure 150 meters long and 105 meters tall to cover the concrete encasement that was constructed after the accident, which has been leaking radiation since the 1990s.

Halliburton billing battle heats up
Article Abstract:
The U.S. Army has decided to withhold payments to Kellogg Brown & Root, a unit of Halliburton Co. that is under contract with the Army to provide military supplies and logistical services to troops in Iraq and Kuwait. The decision was made after Pentagon auditors found evidence that KBR's methods of estimating costs under the contract are questionable.
