Uncovering strategic assumptions: understanding managers' ability to build representations
Article Abstract:
Interactions are an important process in the generation of representations. Social representations help provide coherence in belief systems and their links with everyday thinking. Representations involve visual features as well as abstract characteristics. Managerial cognition can be understood by using insights from cognitive science. Ecological validity can be achieved through fieldwork away from the confines of laboratories. Researchers should seek to understand social representations in their context.

Team syntegrity: a new methodology for group work
Article Abstract:
The skills of employees have become more important in the leaner style of companies following the removal of large numbers of middle managers. There is a need to foster teamwork and coordination in order for companies to function efficiently with a less hierarchical structure. Team syntegrity is a new concept which can help managers develop teamwork. The concept was developed by Stafford Beer, a pioneer in management cybernetics. Further research in a number of areas would be fruitful.
