Uproar over Pimlico vote
Article Abstract:
Plans by the UK government to give the go-ahead for a new 50 million pounds sterling school in Pimlico, London goes against its previously declared decision to only give its support to a project which was fully agreed on by all the school's governors. A meeting by the governors resulted in a 10 to 9 vote for the project, which many critics claim does not equate to full support. The architect commissioned to design the new school has threaten to resign over the matter, which brings into question the government's role in private finance initiate projects.

RFAC slates Newcastle Hilton and urges competition
Article Abstract:
Hotel group Hilton is facing opposition to its plans for a 250-bed hotel at Bottle Bank, between the Tyne and High Level bridges on the south bank of the River Tyne in Newcastle, England. The Royal Fine Art Commission has called on Hilton to drop designs by local architectural firm Alan J Smith Partnership for the Tyne Bridge Hilton, stating that the designs are not appropriate for a scheme on a site of national importance. The scheme includes a 600-seat conference and banqueting centre and underground parking for 150 cars.
