Urban urbane
Article Abstract:
The creation of a new urban space off the King's road in London by the landowner, developer and key stakeholders, such as the local authority and English Heritage that will be an exemplar for the renaissance of urban space is presented. The approach of the project designed by Paul Devis and partners has been to work with historic grain but not be overawed, to introduce new forms of architecture and materials, and ensure the vitality of the area through activity, public art and lighting.

Designing the public realm
Article Abstract:
Urban design has become increasingly significant in the UK over recent years. In particular, it has become clear that it will be necessary to adopt a more holistic approach to urban design in the future. Urban design must be the starting point for successful developments, and must have a greater priority than commercial goals. This approach will become increasingly significant as developers and local authorities look at new demographic patterns and sustainable development.
