Value creation through corporate restructuring: European divestitures
Article Abstract:
Stock markets vary in their reactions to announcements of divestitures by companies in Europe. The initial reaction is positive after a company announces it will sell a domestic subsidiary. There is an improvement in the performance of divesting firms for some two months after the sale. Information leakages are common in Europe before an official announcement is made. There are national differences on reactions to the sales of foreign subsidiaries, and the size of the sale also has an impact on returns.

Using extensive, dynamic product lines for listening in on evolving demand
Article Abstract:
Traditional market research is not always the most effective way for companies to assess demand in new and existing markets. The product line itself can be used to evaluate demand for different versions of the product. This involves an active process of experimentation. Product variety is likely to be greater using this method than with more conventional methods of researching markets. Companies should ensure that they do not introduce an excess of variety of churning of product lines.
