Vendor selection and evaluation: an activity based costing approach
Article Abstract:
An activity-based costing method for vendor selection and evaluation allows the computation of total costs caused by a supplier in the production process. The approach thus increases the objectivity in the selection process. Under the system, the supplier who minimizes the total additional costs associated with the purchase decision is selected. Budgeted and actual scores after delivery of the products are compared to evaluate vendors. The total score difference in a purchaser effect, vendor effect and a combined effect is divided for an objective measure of performance.

Adapting the Warmack-Gonzalez algorithm to handle discrete data
Article Abstract:
Research was conducted to examine the algorithm developed by R. Warmack and R. Gonzalez that was originally intended for pattern recognition. The algorithm, which solves multiple systems of linear equations, was employed by R. Soltysik and P. Yarnold as an approach for two-group multivariate optimal discriminant analysis. Results indicate that the Warmack-Gonzalez algorithm depends heavily on the satisfaction of the Haar condition.
