Vitkovice celebrated its 170th anniversary at the 40th International Engineering Trade Fair in Brno
Article Abstract:
Vitkovice (Ostrava, Czech Republic), metallurgy and engineering company, will go on with its co-operation with Krupp-Fordertechnik (KF) (Germany). Vitkovice should supply goods worth a total of 3 bil Kc to KF by 2002. The firm's subsidiary Vitkovice-Prodeco (Czech Republic) arranged a contract with KF on a supply of excavator for the brown coal firm Severoceske doly (Chomutov, Czech Republic) in September 1998. The contract is the continuation of a contract on a group of large machines worth nearly 2 bil Kc. Vitkovice will ensure more than 50% of the contract. The firm ended its metallurgy primary production in September 1998. The costs on the maintenance of a plant, which ensured the production, should be at least 3.785 bil Kc. The costs will be covered through the National Property Fund of the Czech Republic. The maintenance jobs should be realised by 2003-2008. Vitkovice celebrated its 170th anniversary at the International Engineering Trade Fair in Brno, the Czech Republic, in 1998.

Fluid gasification - Vresova
Article Abstract:
Sokolovska uhelna (SU) (Sokolov, Czech Republic), brown-coal mining company, will build a new unit in Vresova, Czech Republic. The unit will gasify brown coal with the HTW technology. The total investment cost on the project is estimated at roughly 4.8 bil Kc. A comprehensive study of the complex named Fluid Gasification Vresova, which was built by Energoprojekt (Prague, Czech Republic) in co-operation with a consortium led by Lurgi (Germany), was completed in February 2000. The project proposes to replace the hitherto solid-bed coal gasification technology with the modern, environmental-friendly and economical technology HTW. The gas is intended for the steam-gas power station in Vresova, which was built during 1993-1996.
