Yello - ministers of sound
Article Abstract:
The Swiss music group called Yello is composed of Dieter Meier and Boris Blank who came to know each other in a record shop in Zurich, Switzerland in 1979. The two became friends easily and decided to establish a small recording studio in Zurich's Rote Fabrik, a refuge for striving artists. They experimented on new sounds such as gorilla grunts accompanied by the Latin cha-cha beat on a simple synthesizer. They got their break in the US when they released their first album on the legendary independent label Ralph Records.
