Regulations and protectionist measures invoked by governments restrict how companies can conduct their business, yet financial markets are free to conduct their business as they please. Changes to the regulations are examined to improve the flow of business.

International portfolio funds increased investments in US equities and sustained US bond investments because they expect Pres Clinton to build a stronger dollar. Ten portfolio firms were surveyed and results are analysed.
