Warehouse-retailer system with stochastic demands - non-identical retailer case
Article Abstract:
An analysis of a warehouse-retailer distribution systen in which warehouse and non-identical retailers operate under continuous review policies. The analysis focused on the computation of the warehouse's upper bound of the number of units short per unit time based on reorder cycle time, undershoot at the warehouse and expected bounds of number of orders during the reordering lead time. The results showed that the upper bound of the number of units short per unit time is a good indicator of warehouse performance.

A two-phase tabu search approach to the location routing problem
Article Abstract:
A new two-phase tabu search architecture that integrates the location and routing decisions of the location routing problem (LRP) is presented. The two-phase technique coordinates two tabu search (TS) mechanisms. One TS seeks a good facility configuration, the other a good routing that corresponds to this configuration in a computationally efficient algorithm. The performance of the two-phase TS algorithm is evaluated by comparing it to a recent LRP heuristic called SAV1 algorithm.

Partially-linear transportation problems
Article Abstract:
Transportation problems in which there is a partially-linear relationship between quantities and the real cost for their transportation are examined. Partially-linear transportation problems can successfully employed in economics because every nonlinear function can be approximated by partially-linear functions. The required and sufficient conditions for local optimality are presented. A construction procedure for solving such problems is introduced.
