Some officials of advertising and marketing groups in Canada share their views on what would be the likely trends in their fields in 1999. These groups include the Assn of Canadian Advertisers, Canadian Marketing Assn, Institute of Canadian Advertising, Retail Council of Canada, Canadian Public Relations Society and the Internet Advertising Bureau of Canada. One of their predictions is that online advertising will grow rapidly in Canada.

Humungous Bank cashes out

Richmond Savings will allow smaller financial institutions to use elements of its award-winning Humungous Bank advertising campaign. The availability of the program will be introduced through a CD entitled the 'Richmond Savings Story.' The credit union will either sell components such as the merchandizing materials or package up the entire program. It aims to run three new radio commercials and a direct-mail campaign in summer 1999.

Details of Ad Age's 21st annual Global Marketers report are presented. Procter & Gamble had the highest advertising expenditure among the companies included in the report. A table that presents statistics and ranking of the top 10 companies in terms of advertising spending is also given.
