What they realy meant
Article Abstract:
United Kingdom prime minister, Tony Blair, has attacked conservatism, and the Conservative Party sees this as an attack on them. The Conservatives argue that Blair is a conservative, and voters should seek the genuine article, or the Conservatives. Blair argues that there are conservatives in the Labor Party who do not want change to education and welfare. There are contradictions in Blair's position in that he seeks the political center, yet claims that Britain is divided between progressives and conservatives. There is, in fact, little difference between the positions of the British political parties.

Welcome to the cabinet
Article Abstract:
The United Kingdom cabinet was seen as a body which had power to decide on policy, yet this appears to be less true with the new Labor government. Cabinet meetings are often short, with decisions having been taken beforehand. Power resides in a small group which includes Peter Mandelson who is not in the cabinet, as well as Gordon Brown, Chancellor, and prime minister, Tony Blair, who are in the cabinet. There are also measures planned which will restrict the powers of ministers, and the trend toward a weaker cabinet may not be beneficial for the UK.

Unsocialist realism
Article Abstract:
Tony Blair, United Kingdom prime minister, has strengthened his control of the Labor party, which looks set to remain in power for two terms minimum. V Blair is skilled at managing television appearances and addressing listeners as though they were privileged to receive his confidences. Blair has sent messages to industrial workers that could appear Thatcheritein their message on the need to control inflation. Talk can change attitudes, and it is an achievement that he has received such a positive response at the Labor party conference.
