Germany has been trying to limit immigration, and even deporting Bosnian refugees, and at the same time trying to make it easier for long-standing immigrants to become citizens. Every state but Bavaria favors legislation easing citizenship for groups such as the large Turkish population.

German chancellor Helmut Kohl seems reluctant to speak out against race-based terrorism targeting refugees and Turks in Germany. It is understandable that Germany should repeal their open asylum policy, but German-born children of immigrants should be given a chance for citizenship.
