Grade II* rating to be axed
Article Abstract:
English Heritage (EH) is preparing to abolish the Grade II* rating from the ranking system in 2006, a move that would more than double the number of Grade I listed buildings in England and Wales. However, some observers form the conservation sector warn that EH is also considering plans to relegate a number of the younger II* buildings, likely to be Modern 20th-century sites, down to Grade II.
