Wounded by Thailand's woes
Article Abstract:
The weakened Thailand economy has also adversely affected its semiconductor industry as investors become cautious of raising funds for the technology sector. Submicron Technology PCL is in need of some $550 million to complete a $900 million silicon-chip foundry project with shareholder Alphatec Electronics PCL. Investors have become wary of capital-intensive projects after sharp declines in the Thai stock market. Alphatec's share prices have been significantly affected by the market's fall, with prices declining about 52% in 15 days of trading.
