You first: Japan's big car makers remain wary of China
Article Abstract:
Japanese car makers are less eager than their international competitors for a share of the potentially huge Chinese market. While they remain mainland China's largest importers, they remain cautious about the joint ventures and technology transfers that Beijing is demanding for the future. Germany's Volkswagen remains the largest outside maker of cars within China. Japanese companies remain dubious about the quality potential and worried about the likelihood of strikes and official entanglements in local factories.
