You say Senkaku, I say Diaoyu: China and Japan
Article Abstract:
A conflict over the ownership of 8 uninhabited islands that Japan call the Senkakus and China calls the Diaoyu has increased tensions between the 2 countries. The Chinese media is blasting Japan for allowing a right-wing Japanese youth group to build a lighthouse and war memorial on one of the islands.

The perils of nationalism: China
Article Abstract:
People in Taiwan and Hong Kong have begun protesting Japanese occupation of the Diaoyu Islands or Senkaku Islands. Ownership of the islands has long been disputed, but the recent actions caused the Chinese government to try and stop them. Ironically, such action was once promoted by the government.

Japan's war with China, revisited
Article Abstract:
Japan has made an effort to emphasize the 'normalization' of its relationship with China, and some have offered public apologies for Japan's War II activities. However, China retains a collective memory of Japan's harsh treatment and it remains critical of Japan's alliances with the US.
