Yukos is declared bankrupt
Article Abstract:
OAO Yukos of Russia, once the largest petroleum producer here, has been declared bankrupt by a Moscow court. The case was portrayed as a crusade against a corrupt corporation but was perceived as punishment for the Chief Executive Mikhail Khodorkovsky (who possibly had political aspirations) and a move by the Kremlin to regain control of the petroleum industry. Mr. Khodorkovsky is jailed in Siberia on fraud charges.
